- Describe a meaningful accomplishment at work that was a struggle to achieve. What lessons did you learn? (Double space, 12-point font, 300 words)
- Why do you want an MBA? How does the degree complement or bolster your career goals and provide a transition from the work and responsibilities that you have had to date? (Double space, 12-point font, 300 words)
- Choose one of the scenarios below.
Scenario A:
You*ve just been named director of a division that is known within the company as a sleeper. Results just haven*t been meeting expectations. Product launches have been delayed or postponed and tuition and fees have skyrocketed. Six weeks ago, a number of key employees were let go. Morale is poor among the remaining key players. The senior management committee has made it clear that you are being brought in to provide a necessary change in leadership at the division. You have been given limited resources, but the necessary authority to get things done.Scenario B:
You*ve just been named director of a division that has been consistently one of the top three performers. The division functions as a high- performance work group. Its products are known throughout the company for their innovativeness and quality as well as for the speed with which they have been brought to market . The division is also recognized as having built a costing system that has allowed for continuous improvement in lowering costs. The division is planning to expand into new domestic and international markets. As the new director, you must draft a concise memo (ÃÖ´ë 500 words) to the management committee outlining your plans for the future. For scenario A or B, please address the following:
- Identify your three top priorities and discuss why you select them.
- What leadership style will you use? What will be your expectations for member of your team?
- What will you propose as your critical success measures?
Optional Essay:
If you think that the Admissions committee should know something that you have not had an opportunity to address elsewhere in this application, this is your chance. You might discuss, for example, why you believe that one or more aspects of your application(e.g., college GPA or test scores) do not accurately reflect your potential for success at the Johnson School and in your chosen career. You might also include special circumstances or background information that you would like the Admissions committee to take into consideration as it reviews your application.
