History & Facts

The Arlington Pacesetters are "Setting the Pace" in 1999 with a goal of a Star Award, eight educational programs and a Fashion Show as our fund raiser, membership campaign and community service event.  The Arlington Pacesetters Chapter was chartered in January 1979.  Three chartered members still make up the membership of the original twenty-five.  Our membership has included two Top Ten ABWA Women of the Year and one National Officer (two times).  We have achieved award recognition every year to include five Star Awards and two Spring Conferences (1983 and 1997).  We started the Distinguished Circle of Success Award in 1990, as part of our community awareness program, which recognizes a person who has contributed and made a change in Arlington.  This has become a community highlight along with our Business Associate Event for our chapter.  We have sponsored three National Loans and six National Grants of $1,200 each and annual local scholarships totaling $12,500.  We sponsor member attendance to Spring Conferences and National Conventions.  The chapter networks with other women organizations (NAFE and BPW) and ABWA Councils (TCAF and DACA).  Our members are involved in other efforts such as Big Brothers & Sisters, women's shelters, "Feed Arlington" and legal issues as they relate to violence against women.  We have been actively sponsoring a family for Thanksgiving and Christmas as our community service.
