INDICATIONS:
REPICOL is indicated as an epithelization agent or stimulant for the cicatrization of ulcers, wounds, traumatic injuries, burns and varicose ulcers. The effect of REPICOL is optimum if it is applied on wounds, cutaneous ulcers and on burns where there is no infection. The medication has no effect on dry wounds or scabs.

DESCRIPTION:
REPICOL is a hydrophilic amorphous powder with particles in a diameter size of 0.2 to 0.4 mm. It is chemically inert and absorbs 6 to 8 times its weight in exudates from wounds. It is dark brown in color and has the property of fixing and precipitating iron and proteins.

PHARMACOKINETICS AND PHARMACODYNAMICS:
It has been demostrated that upon application of REPICOL on wounds it is depolymerized by the action of the lysosomal enzymes wich are abundant at the site of the injury, thus permitting the formation of fibroblasts and consequently, the collagenous fibers. The effective use of REPICOL in the healing process of burn wounds is related to the composition of the connective tissue itself, that is characterized for its variable content of glycanuos- glucoamides associated with proteins. The histochemical studies performed repert that the production and deposit of mucopolysaccharides prepare and direct the fibroblasts to produce collagen whose orientation and crossing will depend on the mechanical properties of the scared tissue.
REPICOL has a close relation with collagen and an angiogenic factor that precipitates the proteins and adheres to the cellular necrotic detritus tissue and tampons the blood vessels preventing bleeding and exudates.
The local appilcation of REPICOL, on the skin surface, does not condece to seri levels higher that 0.1 meg/ml.
