Pa'ani Pila the Band

Pa'ani Pila is a musical group that resides on the beautiful Kona Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. The band consists of four members, Kevin Haleamau, Joseph Chee Jr, Jon Lawson, and Teri'i Holzgrove.

The band was formed in the summer of 1993 and has performed at some of the best garages, baby luaus, fundraising concerts on the Big Island, including the prestigous Waiki'i Music Festival. The group has also had regular gigs at some hot local nightspots like Jolly Rogers, Huggos, and Kona Beach Hotel's Billfish Bar.

The music stylings of the group stem from, Hawaiian, Country, Reggae, and Polynesian influences. The combination of these influences form a unique sound that is not urbanized, quantized, or synthisized, but rather a pure country sound they like to call " Island Style ".

The band has recently completed recording thier first Pa'ani Pila the Album release that should be out in the record stores by the end of September 1996. Promoting this new album and touring will be on the agenda for the rest of the 1996 year.
