MARIE
YVON, born in Western Canada, has spent most of her time on a musical stage
since the age of twelve. She has a most powerful and dynamic voice that
has enabled her to sing all styles of country music through to rock and
roll. In between the many hills and curves that she experienced with her
band, "Rafter-t", she has been able to include several of her own projects
as well. One of them, being chosen to perform the opening ceremonies, and
theme song for the 1997 ALBERTA SUMMER GAMES. The song "Make A Break For
The Border" was written by her husband, who is also part of the Rafter-t
band.
The most recent and "Pet Project" of hers was an album that she produced and recorded for the veterns of WW I and WW II. The most difficult task, finding the authors and publishers of these old war time classics. Many of these songs that are now Public Domain, had to be confirmed that they were just that. This project was designed, and still is used today, as a fund raising tool to raise money for various clubs and organizations.
The album is performed live every fall on and
around November 11th. (Remembrance Day), for the war veterns celebrations
that take place every year at that time. Copies of the "Songs of Wartime"
album are available here in cassette or CD format. You can listen
to samples of this album on the Samples page.
