OBJECTIVES

The organization is formed as a result of the increasing incidence of home invasions targeting the elderly and frail. Our purpose is to provide a form of protection for those deemed to be at risk, or for those who have become victims to aid them in their recovery.

The principal operation of the organization shall be the purchase of security products and services to be gifted to the elderly and disabled persons who are deemed to be at risk

  1. the installation and monitoring of electronic alarm services by a qualified provider
  2. the provision and installation of security bolts / chains and windows locks by qualified persons
  3. to provide direct subsidies on other security products such as security doors and screens.

Items a) and b) are to be gifted and therefore free of any cost to the recipient (this includes any monitoring service).

Item c) will be available to any elderly or disabled person who is identified as at risk and who is able to participate in the cost. In extreme cases every endeavor will be made to provide this service free of cost to the recipient.

The Pensioner Protection Program Incorporated has an arrangement with the Crime Prevention Bureau, Community Services Command of the West Australian Police Service, to have all recipients identified or qualified through their central command at 8 Burton Street, Cannington. The criterion to be satisfied by recipients deemed to be at risk and in urgent need is at the discretion of the Officer in Charge of the Crime Prevention Bureau.

Elderly or disabled persons who are victims of home invasion will automatically qualify for immediate assistance. This is to provide them with a safer environment and assist in the resettling process after such a traumatic event.

The organisation shall during the course of its operation solicit, gather and evaluate information relating to various security services and products. This information shall be made available to members and any other interested community aid groups at no cost.
