Commercial & Industrial
Scene
Shepherd & Co is committed to the growth of Commerce and Industry within the Rangitikei region, we realize that the wealth of a community come from those hard working entrepreneurs who have the guts to step out on their own and not the government. It is one of our goals to actively seek out Industry to place it within the Rangitikei to stimulate the economy.
Some good reasons for placing new business in the Rangitikei-
The closure of several large company facilities in recent years has left a surplus of both commercial and industrial property within the Rangitikei. These properties remain vacant and have thus driven the prices of industrial properties down. Compared to the premium prices paid for Auckland and Wellington property it is almost like the wild west in the 1800's with cries of "FREE LAND".
The Rangitikei District Council is presently seeking tenders for companies to promote Rangitikei business development. It is an idea that we at Shepherd & Co firmly support. In line with this promotion, assistance is available to help new companies flourish. One example is waiving of portions of rates for new business. The exact details can be obtained from Pam Taylor at the RDC.
Marton has in place, the infrastructure to expand. This coupled with its close proximity to SH1 and both the Northern and New Plymouth rail line will assure any new business that raw materials will be available.
PEC which manufactures Fuel pumps and before its sale to Gallaghers, security systems, were able to draw some of the top engineers and technicians to Marton at lower wages than Major cities offer. The open spaces, low cost property, and lack of motorways I believe appeals to most people.
With advances in telecommuting, instead of paying crippling rents for space you could maintain a smaller and higher profile head office or sales department and have the nuts and bolts work carried out from a low cost facility in the Rangitikei. More sales, lower overheads, happier workforce, Who wins? Everyone!
