A highlight of completing MBA 850 -- "Integrative Case Experience and Future Global
Strategies," is the annual Integrative Case Competition (ICE) for third-semester students.
Students were challenged to make a difference in the strategic direction of a major U.S.
corporation, Dow Jones & Company. Gordon Crovitz, Dow Jones senior vice president for electronic publishing, and Dick Tofel, Dow Jones vice president of corporate
communications, asked Broad MBA students to make recommendations on strategically
positioning the print and interactive editions of The Wall Street Journal that would
maximize operating incomes and total revenues. The executives poured over written
reports submitted by 30 student teams and chose four teams to make presentations.
Past ICE companies at Broad have included Apple Computer, Baxter International,
K-Mart and Spartan Motors.
