In Memory of John F. Kennedy Jr.

Jackie Onassis and her son, John F. Kennedy Jr.,
walk arm-in-arm in this April 1986 photograph.

THE PLANE CRASH not only took JFK Jr., his wife and sister-in-law, it also took a piece of everyone’s heart.
Like Princess Diana, this tragedy has left the world wounded. All three in Friday’s crash were so young,
so dedicated and still had so much more to give to each other and the rest of the world.
We will never know what this country could have been if JFK Jr. had decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and go into politics.
I feel for both families. I did not know John, Carolyn or Lauren, and I find it difficult to fight the tears.
While I struggle to come up with an answer as to why something so awful had to happen,
I am reminded that we never know our own fate so we must be thankful for every day we have,
especially every day we have with those who mean so much to us.

The web of our life is a mingled yarn,
good and ill together. Our virtues would
be proud if our faults whipt them not;
and our crimes would despair if they were not
cherished by our virtues.

Praising what is lost makes the rememberance dear.

...be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great,
some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.

Indeed John F. Kennedy Jr. was a great man and all our sorrows our compounded.
Together we mourn his loss and together we will stand strong and always remember the great man.
