Conclusion
In this project, no doubt, there are many limitations for us to create a much better project. More items and details that have something to do with today's PC world could have been added into this virtual shopper. All these are definitely possible, only if we have more time. In fact, to be honest, we have only started working on this project 2 days before the due date!
Due to the time constrains, especially when we have assignments and tests for other subjects we can only include 20 items as examples. On top of that, it is hard to get details and good pictures on all the PC items. Keep in mind that every single graphics object in the applet is custom-made using Corel PhotoPaint and CorelDraw. Product images are pain-stakingly searched throughout the web, downloaded, resampled, sharpened, cropped, and compressed. So, time is obviously the major constrains we face in the making of a better and more complex project.
Another is that, the things we learn in college is quite limited. And it is almost impossible for us to do great effects that we have in mind. Take for example, we really want to do the drag and drop effect that seems quite easy in the beginning. Yes, no doubt that we can get it from the book, but this goes back to the time factor that we have mentioned earlier.
In short, all we can say is that, if we were given more time, we can definitely do a better project. The things we did not learn from the class will not be a problem since we have time to flip through the textbook and refer to other documentations. Besides more items, we are sure to include more features into this program like database support for easy update of product database, sleeker and more optimized interface, etc. And since we will have so many items, we will also like to include a search function where it will help the user to find whatever PC parts he wants. Say if the things he wants, cannot be found in this virtual shopping program (which is very unlikely to happen), it will recommend another site and link to user to that particular site if he wish.
