All about me!

My name is Colin, (However on the Internet I am known as "Zascar" - you'll find out why later) and I have lived in Dublin, Ireland, for all 19 years of my life. I am currently doing an IT degree in college, and I hope to pursue a career in the industry. I have always had an interest in computers, and this has developed quite a bit over the past few years.

I have many interests, many in the technical fields, hence the wide variety of subjects on my homepage. I have always had an interest in computers, and I seem to be the person people call on when they have a problem. When deciding what University course to do, everyone was telling me to do Computer Science, but I didn't think it was for me. I like computers, but I don't like the idea if having a job where you sit in front of a screen for 10 hours a day, inputting some weird language that very few people understand. (However I have since taught myself HTML, and I would have classified that as a "weird computer language") I am very business minded, and I like to know what is going on in the world of business, so I found a course with the best of both worlds.

I used to use the Internet quite a bit, and one day I thought to myself, "How is a web page made?" I thought it would be fun to try to make one of my own, so I did a bit of research, and I downloaded a little program called "Web Tutor", by Joe Barta. From there I learnt the basics, experimented a bit, and now I have a page I am proud of! It originally started as something to do when I was bored, but now I love improving my site, and it makes me proud to see that close to 1000 other people have seen all my hard work.

Click here to see a much bigger version Computers however, are only one of my many interests. Since I was a kid, I have loved cars, and as soon as I was old enough, I took to the roads, and I have never looked back! (However I'm sure the other road users do!) I learned how to drive pretty quickly, out of sheer determination, and now the car has become a large part of my life. I have put a lot of time and effort into my car, adding little thing here and there, and I have just finished installing a pretty good sound system, for one of my other passions - Music .

I have always been a keen music fan, but this has recently become more of a passion. Mostly, I listen to Dance music, 'the Ibiza scene' (For those of you who don't understand what I am talking about, there is a little island in the Mediterranean sea, called Ibiza, {Pronounced "Eye-beeth-a"} and it is the Clubbing capital of the world. Most of the world's top DJs became famous there) however I also have an appreciation for rock music, and just a little bit of the heavy stuff! Metallica, Rage against the Machine, etc. Dublin has one of the best clubbing cultures in Europe, and I regularly frequent the clubs, mainly the POD and the Red Box. I love dance music, and I try to go to see all the visiting DJs. In the past while I have seen Paul Okenfold, Jeremy Healy, Lisa Lashes (I was actually talking to her!), and a good few well-known Irish DJs. I hope to see a lot more real soon.

Sometimes the heavy beats get just a bit too much, so I also like to listen to some soft rock form bands like U2. I also like to play the guitar - I have been playing for close to 10 years. I'm not too bad, but I am not nearly as good as I should be. I can get my fingers around most songs, and I can even play some Metallica solos, but I'm no Brian May!

Yes, that is me in the picture... I am not I brilliant sportsman, but my favourite outdoor activity would have to be Mountain-Biking. It is really great fun, and you don't even have to be that fit to do it! Two years ago, I bought myself a really nice bike. It is called a "GT Zaskar", (That's where I developed my Internet name from). I had to work all summer in a hotel to make the money (Over 1000!), but it was worth every penny. I feel really bad now though, because I rarely use it. I have very little free time to myself, and it is too much of a hassle to organise a trip up the mountains.

I also have a part time job as a waiter in "Irelands Best Pub". (We've won the competition for five years running!). It's OK, but I want a job that is more suited to my skills/interests. However, I am earning money, and without that I wouldn't be able to pursue with my various "expensive" hobbies - Cars, Mountain-Biking, Music, etc.

So, that's about it. You now know all about me. What I like, and what I like to do, so have a good look around my site, and see what you can find. If you have a homepage, send me the address, 'cause I always like to see other peoples work, and I would be glad to lend you a hand with your site.

This site is going to have some drastic changes in the layout and the content in the next couple of weeks, so make sure to bookmark the site, and come back and enjoy all the new stuff I have planned.

Zascar.
