¡@ LONDON TAIWAN SEMINAR ¡@ For the academic year 2000-2001 we plan to make the London China Seminar, the London Taiwan Seminar. The seminars will be conducted in English, but we would like to welcome as many nationalities as possible. Although our primary focus is on Taiwan, we also welcome any comparative studies relating to Taiwan. The London Taiwan Seminar will take place at either the School of Oriental and African Studies or the London School of Economics on Thursdays 6-8 pm, term time, starting in late October of 2000. We are trying to compile a register of UK academics and students who are conducting research on Taiwan in the social sciences and humanities. We would therefore like to know about any of your research relevant to Taiwan (including comparative studies with Taiwan). If you can give a presentation to the London Taiwan Seminar, some funding will be available to cover your travelling expenses. We will arrange a suitable date, after receiving your reply. Or, if you would like to sit in the seminar and/or join our email list, then you are very welcome to do so. In either case, please give us the following information, and send it to: ¡@ (the deadline is 30 June 2000)1) name (if you have a Chinese name, please also write in Chinese characters); 2) nationality; 3) academic status (i.e., MA/MPhil/PhD/Lecturer/Research Fellow etc.); 4) affiliation (i.e., department, university or association etc.); 5) your research topic (related to any Taiwanese issue or any comparative study with Taiwan); 6) e-mail/mailing address and/or contact phone number (preferred). 7) your topic for a presentation (if applicable); 8) which Thursdays you would not be able to give a presentation. ¡@ With many thanks, Fang-long Shih Stephan Feuchtwang and Michael Palmer (the Seminar organisers), LSE and SOAS, University of London. |
