Hi, every prospective Tourism and Leisure MA student
1. I am going to introduce the educational system briefly.
There are 3 terms (學期) in one year: Michaelmas
term ; Lent term; Summer term. Every MA in Tourism and Leisure student is supposed to
finish six course modules by the end of summer term, and submit one dissertation by middle
of September.
1.1 You will be required to decide six course modules in the begging of Michaelmas
term. As you are new here, and are not familiar with the content of course modules.
Therefore, there are two ways for you to choose your modules. Firstly, you can consult
with the course director. Secondly, read your course handbook firstly, and come to audient
the modules in that you are interested. Because you can change your course modules in the
begging of every term, therefore, please do not worry too much about this. However, please
do remember to inform the coordinator every time you change your modules. Generally, the
ideal way is choosing two modules for every term. However, you are flexible to choose more
than two as long as you can handle these modules well.
1.2 Do course readings firstly is the best way to catch up the content of
courses, and it is the best way to follow the address of tutors as well. In lessons, you
are welcome to ask questions or to mention your opinions, which are relative to your
course readings. As most of MA in Tourism and Leisure lessons are seminars, therefore,
your are supposed to share your opinions with your tutors and classmates. Especially in

day. You need to submit your essay to where the tutor asks for, with two copies of your
every essay. If you do have difficulties to submit your essay on time, you can e-mail your
tutor for asking extension.
1.4 There are some important things to notice when you write your essay. Firstly,
remember to mention the source of your quotations, references. Secondly, it would be
better if you can ask one native speaker to check your essay before submitting it or you
can ask for help of IELE ( in喬治 Fox Building).
In喬治 Fox Building, every subject (科系) has one specific tutor who is in charge in checking
student𠏋 essay. You need to find who the one of MA in Tourism and Leisure is and to
reserve he/she firstly. For future details, please ask coordinator of MA in Tourism and
Leisure.
1.5 Tutors have their own office hours. Students are welcomed to ask questions
of courses or essays in their office hours. For details, please ask coordinator of MA in
Tourism and Leisure.

information, notice, and announcement will be sent to your pigeonhole. Especially the
urgent notices of Library that informs you those books you can collect now or which books
you need to return in what time. If you ignore these notices, you will be fined for
sizable money. Students?pigeonhole can be found in the coffee room, which is in the second
