My Views on Gay Rights
I have never understood people's aversion to homosexuality. Of course, I wasn't raised to think it was wrong. I was raised to see people judging other people based on something they couldn't help as wrong. Society believes racism is wrong, but they think it's perfectly fine to discriminate against somebody because of their sexual orientation. I still don't see what the difference between racism and homophobia is. It's all discrimination. After the murder of Matthew Shepard, you'd think people would start to see the error in their thinking, but that would just be too easy. It'll probably take until I'm old and my parents' generation along with most of my generation have died off before the world will begin to think that way. It's a sad thought. In the meantime, I'll be here defending the rights of my friends and myself to be who we are and not who the world expects us to be.
