Peter Schmeichel                                                                                                                                                                                    Peter Schmeichel joined Manchester United as a replacement for Jim Leighton. He proved to be ideal and after his appointment, Manchester United went on to win a string of trophies. However, after 8 great years, Peter announced his intention to leave the club in November 1998. His main reason for leaving was the increasing pressure placed upon him while playing in the high profile English Premiership. 


Season:1991/92
Average goals conceded per game: 0.8
Peter joins Manchester United, proving to be an Ideal replacement for Jim Leighton. He helps them to win the league cup.


Season:1992/93
Average goals conceded per game: 0.73
Peter reserves his place in footballing history by helping Manchester United to become the first team to win the newly created Premier League.


Season:1993/94
Average goals conceded per game: 0.95
Manchester United nearly become the only team in English history to win a trophy treble. However, Peter misses the League Cup final due to suspension and United loose against Aston Villa. Peter does play in the FA cup final and Manchester United succeed in winning the double.


Season:1994/95
Average goals conceded per game: 0.42
Manchester United came runners up in both the English Premiership and the FA cup, loosing both titles in their final two games. Peter Schmeichel's mid-season injury has been pointed out by some as a major contributing factor to United loosing out the league title.


Season:1995/96
Average goals conceded per game: 0.88
Peter keeps Manchester united's unbeaten home record in European competition alive against Rotor Volgograd in the UEFA cup. He does this by showing the strikers what to do by running up field and scoring a goal himself! United then go on to win their second double in three years.


Season:1996/97
Average goals conceded per game: 1.16
Manchester United take yet another Premiership title with Peter Schmeichel guarding the net for them.


Season:1997/98
Average goals conceded per game: 0.75
Manchester United fail to win a trophy, partly due to a huge injury toll throughout the season. When Roy Keane became Injured, Peter Schmeichel took the captain's armband for the rest of the season.


Season:1998/99
Average goals conceded per game: 0.88
Peter Schmeichel becomes the first player in England to keep 100 clean sheets after a 2-0 win at Derby. Later that season, Peter announces that he will quit United at the end of the season, but vows to win another title at least before he leaves.
