Hey everyone!!!

You will never guess who I got to meet today!  Kirk Douglas!!!  Yes, Spartacus himself!  :)
You see, Kirk is a SLU grad (class of 1939), and he's decided to give the school a cool $1 million to fund scholarships for students who are members of ethnic minorities.  This doesn't come with a few bad memories, however...when Kirk was a freshman, he was invited to a dinner at a frat...something like an open bid nowadays, I think...well, he got all dressed up, and waited in his
dorm's lobby for one of the brothers to pick him up...he waited and waited and waited, but nobody showed up.  Seems like they found out that Kirk was Jewish (he went by his real name back then, Isador Demsky), and therefore inelligble to join the house.

Well, that little incident didn't stop him from enjoying the rest of his time at St. Lawrence...during his four years here, he was the captian of the undefeated wrestling team, president of Thelmo (student government), and a member of the Mummers (drama club).  He was also a member of Kixoic, which was later turned into Omnicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honorary.

Kirk was a cool guy to meet...he was funny and the entire crowd seemed to enjoy his speech very much.  I even got his autograph!!!  That was cool...my friend Ryan spotted my picture on the SLU webpage with Kirk, so I guess that means that I'm going to have to work on my links, huh?

Well, I'd better get going...I've got to study biochem...yay...
