Topic History of women in Minnesota
Academic Objective Learn the significance that women played in Minnesota in four time periods: before statehood, 1858-1900, 1900-1950, and 1950-2000.
Social Objective Practice presentation skills in front of a large group.
Positive Interdependence Role and group.
Individual Accountability Each group member has information for which they are accountable.
Procedure Four groups will be selected for the four time periods. In each group, one member will research womens impact on one of these aspects: agricultural, industrial, and social life. After researching it the groups will give a presentation to the whole class.

Topic Holidays
Academic Objective Students will learn about holidays from around the world. 
Social Objective
Positive Interdependence Roles and rotating group roles.
Individual Accountability Each group member has information for which they are accountable and will present it to the class.
Procedure Class brainstorms about holidays. Class goes to library to investigate. 
Groups select holiday by drawing from hat. In each group, members will research various aspects like: days, costumes, food, and history.
Then the groups present their information to the class.

Topic Waterways of Minnesota
Academic Objective Research a waterway that is part of Minnesota.
Social Objective
Positive Interdependence Goal - one group product, reward – group grade.
Individual Accountability Separation of materials
Procedure List of Minnesota waterways on board, each group signs up for one.
Group members research: vegetation and wildlife, trade and commerce, ecological makeup – erosion, environmental. 
Group presents to class. Roles are typer, editor, presenter.

Topic Presidential Politics – 4th grade
Academic Objective Gain an understanding of Presidential duties 
Social Objective
Positive Interdependence Goal – poster display to present to class.
Individual Accountability Students have own responsibility for area of research: 1. Qualifications, 2. Job duties, 3. Personal information on current president or presidential candidates.
Procedure 3 students in group with above mentioned duties. Make poster display.

Topic Economics – Class fund raiser for 6th grade
Academic Objective To understand economic principles necessary to successfully put on a bazare for the school to raise money for charity. 
Social Objective Complex interaction between groups needed for success of event.
Positive Interdependence Goal – Reward – Planning
Individual Accountability Roles – pizza orderer, supply buyer, booth worker, cashier, publicity.
Procedure First whole class thinks about what type of booths are necessary for a successful, varied bazare, then groups sign up for what they want to do and delegate responsibilities within their group.
