KEYBOARDING (829)

Expectations:

  1. Quarter Grades will be determined by the following scale:

    90-100% = A
    80-89% = B
    70-79% = C
    60-69% = D
    0-59% = F
  2. Participation is an in-class activity (small group lab projects, interactive discussions, hands-on computer activities, etc.) and therefore CANNOT be made up regardless of the reason for absence.

  3. A daily assignment will be accomplished appropriate to the topic being studied.  Depending on the topic, daily assignments will be collected either on a daily or weekly basis.  Assignments for excused absences may be made up either before school during opportunity period or after school by appointment.

  4. Class projects are in-class activities (small group lab projects, interactive discussions, hands-on computer activities, etc.) and therefore CANNOT be made up regardless of the reason for absence.

  5. Homework consisting of outside reading and/or research may be given as necessitated by class projects.  Because homework is project-driven it CANNOT be made up regardless of the reason for absence.

  6. Tests/Exams/Quizzes will be taken on the day announced.  Grades will NOT be curved.  Absent students are responsible for making up their tests/exams/quizzes within two days of their return to school either before school during opportunity period or after school by appointment.

  7. Late assignments will have a point reduction (1/4 of the total for each day late) until the assignment has a value of zero.

  8. Opportunities for extra credit will be provided depending on the topic of learning.  If extra credit assignments are offered, none will be accepted after the due date and extra credit cannot be made up regardless of the reason for absence.

  9. Students are expected to give 100% effort in their projects.   Projects are on-going with a variety of intermediary due dates for grading different aspects of the projects.  Students are encouraged to correct the already graded portions of their projects and resubmit the corrected project for a better grade within the timeframe specified.  There will be a final resubmit date for each section of the project.  After this final resubmit date, projects will still be required to be corrected but the grade earned by the due date will not be changed.

Classroom Behavior Expectations:

  1. All school and district ethics, behavior, and dress code policies will be observed and applied.  (Personal grooming belongs in the restroom and chewing belongs in the cafeteria.)

  2. All software rules and regulations will be followed.  Unauthorized copying of software is stealing and will be treated as such.  Some of the software packages we will be using are worth hundreds of dollars and therefore mandate severe consequences.  No software will be installed on school computers without prior authorization.

  3. Much of the equipment we will be using is worth thousands of dollars and is often very fragile.  Therefore, aggressive, inconsiderate behavior infringes on the safety of others and mandates severe consequences.  Students will be held financially responsible for damage and destruction to equipment caused by irresponsible actions upon the part of the student.

  4. Tardies are frequently more disruptive than absences.  They demonstrate a lack of respect for the course and for other students.  Students are required to fill out a "tardy card" for each tardy.  Points will be deducted from the students' grade at every tardy occurrence.  Tardies will also have a negative impact on the student's citizenship grade.  School policy for tardies will be followed for all students in addition to classroom consequences.
