Future of xDSL Technology
Outlook For the Future

The rapid evoltion of technology regarding DSL and all its applications requires conviction on the part of the equipment vendors that propose new technologies that will perform satisfactorially in the telephone loop plant* befor any serious commitment to development can be made.

*TELEPHONE LOOP PLANT

Ensures there is sufficient current flow to operate station sets.

Enables DC/low frequency call process dialing.

Limits transmission loss and frequency fall off to acceptable levels.

This requires knowledge of the transmission and noise characters of the telephone loop plant. Loop survey information is used to help predict performance through simulation of proposed new systems. These simulations are continuing today as technology of DSL systems continues to evolve.

Standards bodies all over the world continue to guide this evolution of an extremely dynamic technology. The applications, benefits and technology of DSL systems will become a major force in the telecommunications world as we enter the new millenium.
