Special Education is an individualized education for children
with special needs. The government has set guidelines for
children who fall into this category. Under federal law,
special education means: “Specially designed instruction,
at no cost to the parent, to meet the unique needs of a
child with a disability, including instruction conducted in
the classroom, in the home, in hospitals and institutions, and
in other settings; and instruction in physical education”.
Three commonly seen areas of disability in Special
Education are: Mental Retardation, Learning Disabled, and
Behavior Disordered. During this presentaiton, we will focus
on defining these three areas along with listing some common
characteristics and typical diversities presented by these
