History of Junior Chamber Taiping

The extension of Jaycees to Taiping was initiated by Ipoh Jaycees in 1990 spearheaded by their LOM Extension chairman JC Matthew Lau. A protem committee was then formed.

Various activities were organised. Junior Chamber Taiping received its registration from the Registrar of Societies on 13th April 1992 and its Provisional Membership from Junior Chamber Malaysia on September 1992.

The Charter President and Board members were then elected and installed its Charter night on 21st. August 1993. Junior Chamber Taiping is honoured with the acceptance by Yang Berhormat Encik Kerk Choo Ting, Deputy Minister of Works and Yang Amat Berbahagia Orang Kaya Menteri Paduka Tuan Dato' Wan Omar bin Wan Ahmad Rasdi, Orang Besar Jajahan Larut, Matang dan Selama as its Chapter Patrons.

During 1994, Junior Chamber Taiping successfully organised the Junior Chamber Malaysia Prime Course.

During March 1995, Junior Chamber Taiping is honoured with the acceptance by Mr Ng Swee Chin of Jaya Garment Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd. as our Chapter Corporate Patron. During the 3rd Installation Award Banquet, Junior Chamber Taiping signed the Sisterhood Pact with Tung Shih Jaycees R.O.C. as our 1st sister chapter.

Junior Chamber Taiping owes it's success to the visits by Ipoh Jaycees members, National Board Officers and encouragement by Jaycees from Malaysia and abroad.
