**Have recently installed an ATM switch. This will be our growth area of the future. The big goal is to begin using the technology in the classroom as a teaching tool...as part of the curriculum.

***Have around 300 windows based computers at High School and Middle School and about 100 Mac's at elementary level..plans to add windows-based at Elementary in the near future and keep Mac's in the back of the classrooms until they die. Speeds range from 166 Pentiums to newly purchased 400 Pentium III's.

We are using Novell Netware version 4 running on Compaq 1600 and 2500 servers.

They were purchased almost three years ago so the processing speed is not that fast but they do the job.

We have a 100 mg network using a 3COM Corebuilder 3500 and 3COM Superstack 3300 hubs throughout all schools.

With network setup as it is, the four schools run basically as one accessing all servers located at the High School.

Internet is provided by a T1 line from Bell Atlantic.

FORTRESS is the program we use to restrict use on computers.

BESS is the program we use to restrict use of Internet.

Network use for teachers is primarily e-mail (Eudora Light) and internet (IE 4, being updated to 5).

Other network applications, especially in the libraries are provided to users. Network printing enables teachers and staff to print to various locations.
