| Clan: Ventrue Effective Generation: 11th Apparent Age: 29 Haven: Penthouse Apartment Concept: Corporate Raider Physical Description: Background: Wealth, and the privileges that came with it, had corrupted what had once been a fairly decent and hard working man. Outside of those occasions when it was important to be seen with his family, he spent little, if any, time raising his children. To keep up appearances, her mother Agnes took on the role of socialite, lending her name (and her husband's considerable fortune) to various parties and charitable causes. Alexis' life, as well as that of her siblings, revolved around an endless string of housekeepers and private tutors. This only served to increase the distance between her and her parents as time went by. When she came of age, her parents began to arrange for her to be married, as was the custom at the time, and she had many suitors come calling. Her parents had settled on a young man by the name of Clinton Harmer, a junior member of her father's firm. Clinton and Malcolm could just as well have been cast from the same mold, something her father had no problems with whatsoever. Though she had her reservations, she was married to Clinton in the spring of 1920. Clinton was a man of extreme passions, in the bedroom as well as the boardroom, and in 1921, she tried to deliver her first child. She was devastated to learn that because of complications during the birth, her only child, a boy, was stillborn. The telling blow came when she was told that she would never again be able to bear children. Though her husband never said anything, he made clear in no uncertain terms that the miscarriage was her fault, costing him the right to carry on his family name. Clinton began to drink heavily, and take out his frustrations on her physically. She remained steadfast, and wore veils over her face to disguise the welts and bruises. But the staff knew, and soon, so did her peers. The last straw came in 1929, when the Stock Market crashed. Clinton had invested heavily, and all his 'old money' wealth was now gone. Drunk and angry, he sulked alone in his study. When Alexis made the mistake of checking in on him to see if he was all right, he beat her viciously and left her for dead. Alexis proved to be made of sterner stuff, however. Determined not to yield, she vowed suicide rather than face another day as his wife. She climbed to the top of the home, mouthed a few silent prayers, and threw herself off the ledge to her death. Alexis fainted when a dark shape caught her as she was falling. When she awakened, she saw the man who would become her Sire, a Ventrue by the name of Marcus. He spent the next year listening to her stories and engaging conversation, and looking to her every need. Ultimately getting the permission of the Prince, he finally chose to reveal his true nature. After explaining his story, he made sure to tell her what she could expect from the Embrace. He didn't rush the decision or force it upon her; he let her decide for herself, with the warning that their relationship would be forever different. Looking back on her life, she saw no reason to cling to it, and so she offered herself to him, and received the Embrace. Some lessons about her status came harder than others. Alexis denied the feeding and the hunger for as long as she could, in spite of his urgings. Marcus, angry now and determined to teach her a lesson, locked her downstairs in a vacant wine cellar. But not before tossing her mortal husband Clinton down with her. She resisted, as most Childe do on the Becoming - but after two days, the hunger became too much, and she tore his throat out, greedily satisfying her hunger and her repressed rage. They spent the next several decades traveling and learning, but always returned back to New York City. Her tutoring and her background hadn't been wasted; she found she had a knack for the stock market and the finances that was every bit as good as her fathers. A Sabbat invasion of New York City became a defining moment in
her unlife; and with them came the Hunters. In time, they received
an anonymous tip as to where her Sire's haven was located, and at
the height of the day, they rushed the haven, killing all within it.
But they reserved a horrible fate for her Sire, dragging him to the
courtyard under the full light of the sun, listening to his
agonizing screams even as his flesh and bone were burned away from
his body. Alexis could see the writing on the wall, and so she left
for New Orleans and parts south. Though she cannot prove a Sabbat
influence behind Marcus' death, she has vowed to return there some
day, and take back the city of her mortal birth. Damon Moorehead (NPC Ghoul)Character Name:
