Jean LeReau

Clan: Brujah
Effective Generation: 8th
Apparent Age: 26
Haven: Ramshackle Apartment
Concept: Criminal/Dark Priest/Scourge

Physical Description:Jean LeReau, Clan Brujah
Jean is black, 6’2” tall, with hazel eyes, a shaved head and no facial hair. Jean has lean muscled look but is strong and quick (think panther.) He prefers to dress somewhere between formal and casual but always wears a leather trench coat to conceal a plethora of weapons.

His two different personalities sometimes effect his appearance as well. Jean and the Tithe Collector are stark contrasts to one another at least ideologically. Jean himself tends to be a pragmatic and often times scheming criminal, while the Tithe Collector acts like a zealous, preaching, domineering, creature out of Voudoun legendry..

Background:
Jean LeReau was born into a lower class black neighborhood of New Orleans. Both of his parents died in an automobile accident when he was four and he was taken into his grandmother's keeping. His grandmother was a practicing Voudoun priestess and showed the young boy things that he would never imagine. She also told him stories of boogey men and urban legends of New Orleans. Not many of her Voudoun teachings stuck in his mind but the stories certainly did. As a boy, he spent more than one restless night after hearing a tale about the Old Man of the Swamp, PaPa Bayou, the Baron, or others, but he also felt attracted to these legends. Later this would be his downfall.

As an adult, he graduated from the police academy and joined the force in Baton Rouge. He worked his way up to detective in homicide. Then 'the case' came. The Dark Messiah. A multi-generational serial killer that had popped up again in Baton Rouge. Jean was fascinated by this urban legend turned real and talked his partner Mark into going after the case. Despite many of the records being destroyed or lost over the years, they managed to piece together enough grisly details to confirm the killer was following the exact MO. They also managed to figure out that there had to be a fifth victim that, unlike the others, he was removing from the murder site. Using this new information and the sites of the first four murders, Jean, Mark, and a SWAT team closed in on what they thought was a copy-cat killer or a cult. They were wrong.

After stalking and capturing the entire force, the creature altered/molded the entire SWAT team and his partner Mark allowing Jean to watch the spectacle. Then Jean watched paralyzed with fear as the killer slew the girl. Something inside of him snapped that night and a boogey man was created inside of Jean's head. The Tithe Collector was born.

After he was cleared by IA of any wrong doing in the case and by Psych evaluation, Jean decided to transfer to his some city New Orleans. With all of the corruption in the Big Easy, he quickly became disenfranchised with being a cop. He took bribes and shook down criminals but only for his 'piece of the pie'. His activities were noticed by Terrance Black of Clan Brujah. Terrance was looking for a candidate for the embrace and chose Jean because of his knowledge of police procedure and the underworld. Jean became a vampire but the shock of the embrace fully awakened his alternate personality. The Tithe Collector stirred.

Terrance was slain a few years after Jean's embrace and in his first years as a vampire Jean had managed to anger Prince Marcel by attacking his childe Christopher. He wound up losing most of what he had attained by that time. With the dangerous activities that happen in New Orleans, he was forced to search for new allies and found Marie. The beautiful and cunning Setite had Jean blood bound before he knew what hit him. He has secretly served her to one extent or another ever since.
