Chicago's Tallest building is the Sears Tower. Seen from the 'El' platform in a cold October night. The top of the tower is orange for Halloween.
This is a shot from the Brown Line Elevated platform over Randolph. The Loop is Chicago's Elevated downtown railway. And a wild and jerky ride even on the best of days.
This is a wild shot out the operators cabin of the elevated train!. 3 stories above the ground and about 40 miles per hour without a flash or a hand on the safety bar! My buddy Andy took this pic.
A wide shot of the Randolph Street, EL station. 2 stories above the busy street below it. That's me. Andy took this picture also. I had never ridden this system before. A lot more bumps and speed changes than I would have thought for a loop rail system.
A spooky available light shot of Andy and myself after a trip to the Sears Tower. 9 o'clock on a nearly deserted Quincy Street EL platform. Where as the Metra Electric trains are more modern the EL system has the character of an old fashoned rail system. Antique looking stations. And just the nature of the elevated railway makes it an experience worth a try for any visitor to Chicago.
