I am a student at Montgomery College. My full-time job is working for the Federal Government as a Secretary for the National Institue of Health. The department I work for is the Work and Family Life Center. I have been in the Government for almost 2 1/2 years. There is 2 people I work for.
While at Montgomery College I was part of Student Activities and particpated in the Student Senate and Program Council and I studied Office Technology. While on the Student Senate I served as a Senator the first year and the second year as President. The year I was senator in the Student Senate I was Vice President of Program Council. While in the Student Senate we took care of all the student concerns and needs with the teachers and the deans. Some of the issues we took care of were the duck crossing signs, the lighting in the parking lots, and other various programs. In Program Council we were the ones that booked the entertainment on campus such as movies and etc. I am actually back in school now trying to get a web page certificate and Computer Application degree. I am not sure how long it is going to take for me to finish at Montgomery College with the things I want.
My number one priority at work is answering phones and making career counselor appointments. I do various other things as well as doing copying, faxing, working on correspondences and various other things as well. I also try to do a lot of volunteer work in the community such as run a singles group and help out where ever needed.
I look forward to learning alot in this class.
