This will take a look back during World War
II and the events that occured that led to the Atomic Bomb. In 1918 Adolf Hitler thought
Germany was the best so he started to conquer the whole world. He started by taking over
his neighbors who were Poland, Hungary, Soviet, France, Czechoslovakia, Austria, Romania,
and Belgium. Italy also teamed up with Germany to take over their neighbors. In 1944
America and Britain helped recover beach Normandy which stretched 6 miles in France from
being took over by Germany. They fought for one year! After the war, over 10,000 people
died!
At the same time, Japan occupied parts of China and killed lots of Chinese people. Japan
also took over Korea, Indonesia, and the Philippines. In 1945 Japan bombed Pearl Harbor
and destroyed USS Arizona, this made America mad because it was their battle ship. So
America made a secret weapon and it was top secret - the Atomic bomb.
Then America got ready to bomb Japan. And when they did, they bombed Taiwan and the
Philippines because Japan took them over. America bombed Japan with two atomic bombs so
Japan surrendered to the Allies. German and Italy also surrendered. That was the last part
of World War II.
This is a picture of the two atomic bombs.
The one on the left is called "Little Boy" and the one on the right is called
"Fat Man". These two were used over in Japan, one in Hiroshima and one in
Nagasaki.
