It is the times where my Mom or Dad says that I can't do this or that because
I am too young that make me want to be an adult. These are the times where
I long to be an adult. It seemed as though it took a lifetime for my older
sister to get ready for her dances. I would sit on her bed and watch my
older sister put on her make-up. There was something about the way she
did it that made it look so easy, so fun, and made me want to be older
and more mature. She put her make-up on so gentle as though she was using
oil paints to make an extravagent painting. I went up to my Mom and said,
" Can I put on make-up also, Mommy?" She turned around and looked me in
the eyes and she said, "No darling, but when you are older and more mature,
such as your older sister Nicole, you can put make-up on too!" This made
me want to switch places with Nicole, but not so that I could just put
on make-up, so that I could be an adult. But I learned from Nicole, and
I still do. Nicole was something that I wasn't, an adult. This taught me
to enjoy my childhood a little more while I have the chance, because sooner
or later I am going to be an adult as well.
