The Mermaids

The Mermaids were the daughters of King Triton, sometimes he
is concidered mearly the King of the merfolk, in other stories he is even the God of the
seas. Mermaids look like beautiful young women but with the tail of a fish instead of
legs. In legend the Mermaids would sometimes come to the surface for various reasons. The singing of the Mermaids was well known. In some cases the songs would be so beautiful that passing sailers would become entranced. This gave rise to the legend of the Sirens. |
