The Satyr

satyr.jpg (19084 bytes) The Satyr looks like a man but with goat ears, horns, and with the lower portions of the body being replaced by a goat's legs and tail. In Greek legends they were always lustful and were known for a great weakness to wine.

In some stories they would pursue the ever reluctant nymphs. They symbolized the more base natures of men. Where men were supposed to try to rise above these vices, the Satyr was said to embrace them.
