Auschwitz was built to be a prison.  It is 32 miles southwest from Cracow.  May 1910 construction began at Auschwitz. When construction stopped the prison was 28 stories high.  The brick building was surrounded by elitric charged barbed wire fence .  In October 1941 Auschwitz II was built.  Except this time it was an extermination camp.
