This is an overview of Bell Boyd's life and about her times in the Civil War as a spy. 

 
 
 
Bell was a Confederate spy in thewar.  She was only 18 at the begining of the Civil War.  General Stonewall Jackson congratulated her on what she did for her country.  She went into the battlefield and got valuable info. for the Confederacy.  Her dress that she wore had several skims on it from bullet holes.  She had experience though in battles.  A year before that she had killed a guy that was trying to put up a flag over her house in Martinsburg ,West Virginia.  She was also a spy forCol. John S. Mosby's Guerillas.  She was captured and put in prison but was later relaeased.
      When she returned to the Confederacy her ship was captuered by a Union Warship.  She fell in love with its's captain Samuel Hardinage.  They got married and went to England .  He was later court -martialed.  She worked the rest of her life as an actress and then died in the wes United States.
