Hello and welcome to our site dedicated to the African Americans that served during  the civil war.  On the linked pages you will find information about the different units and battles Blacks participated in.  Also we have a page solely dedicated to the Buffalo Soldiers.  Thank you for visiting.

We appreciate you visiting and hope that you like our site.  Now for a little background.  We made this site for a research project for American History.  Here are some fast facts for your brain to contain.  There were approximately 7 Cavalry, 12 Heavy Artillery, 1 Light Artillery (10 Batteries), and 140 Infantry units of black soldiers.
Approximately 178,000 Black troops were inlisted during the Civil War.  Of these the Louisiana Native Guards were the first officially mustered black troops.
Charles Tyler Trowbridge was the first person to have enlisted troops.

We would like to thank these sources for there valuable information.  www.erols.com and www.coax.com
