The British flagship sat in the New York harbor for along time. The
British flagships
name was the HMS Eagle.
The HMS Eagle was moored with a gun frigate. The HMS
Eagle was scared away when they
saw the Turtle because when they were chasing it
away the Turtle dropped it’s
bomb and the bomb went off in front of the British flagship.
The HMS Eagle saw it as a threat
and moved their fleet.

The turtle was operated by a hand cranked propeller with a top speed of
three
mph in still water. The
ride in the Turtle in its way to the British Flagship was shaky and
cold because the water was cold
and moving fast. It took longer then expected for
the turtle to reach the ship.

of New York harbor in August 1776. Lee tried hard

the shore safely. Before the Americans found another
