ADOLF HITLER
By Matt Bowers & Jason Pope
Hitler was born on Saturday April, 20 1889 in Braunan, Austria and he died in 1945. Hitler was one of six children. His father died when he was only 13. His mothers name was Maria Anna Schichlgruber.  His fathers name was not recorded on a birth certificate. Four of Adolf's brothers and sisters died in early childhood. Adolf's history teacher Dr. Potsch inspired his political views.

When Hitler was 18 he joined the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. He was rejected later on because
his architectural drawings were not good enough. At this point Hitler blamed the Jews for his loneliness, poverty, and his bad health. Later on his mother died in 1908 and he received a small amount of money. In 1913 Hitler joined the German Army with enthusiasm. He later wrote "I sank down upon my knees and thanked heaven out of the fullness of my heart for the favor of having been permitted to live at such a time." Later on he rose to the rank of corporal and he won the Iron Cross Medal for bravery as a front line messenger. This medal was usually awarded to officers. In 1918 Hitler learned of the Germans defeat while he was laying in a hospital bed from being shot. In 1919 Hitler returned to Munich. In September of 1919 while investigating the German Workers Party, Hitler decided to attend one of their meetings, he was compelled to speak. The leader of the party was impressed with his speech and asked him to join the party's committee. This was when Hitler discovered his true talent for speech. He also gave the party its symbol the Swastika and its greeting Heil! In February 1920 he took over the party. His first public speech was herd by 2,000 people. In 1921 Hitler was sent to prison for three months for attacking a rival's political meeting. Then in 1923 Hitler founded the Beer Hall. Later on Hitler was sent to prison again for his plans to march  into Berlin with his army.

In the 1928 elections the Nazi Party only won twelve votes. With the Great Depression and its
devastating effects on the middle classes helped Hitler win more votes over people. In 1929 the Nazis
began to win over the big industrialists, Nationalists, conservatives, and army circles. Hitler received a lot of nation wide exposure just as the effects of the world economic crisis hit Germany. The change from the 1928 elections to the 1930 elections was dramatic. In 1928 the votes came up to 810,000, in 1930 the votes were at 6,409,000. After all that they now received 107 seats not 12. On January 30, 1933 Hitler was nominated to be Reich Chancellor by von Hindenburg. By July 1933 Hitler abolished all free trade unions. By June of 1934 hitler was the undisputed dictator of the Third Reich. In 1935 Hitler abandoned the Versailles Treaty and he began his own army and he made it with five times the number of soldiers that he was suppose to have. In 1938 Hitler took command of the armed forces. During Hitler's victories people forgot about the destruction of churches, concentration camps, and the Nuremberg  laws against the Jews. In September of 1939 the German armies invaded Poland to try and secure Germany's living space. The first part of World War II was dominated by German tactics.

The hardest decision of Hitler's career involved the invasion of Soviet Russia on June 22, 1921.
At the end of January 1939 Hitler said " if the international financial Jewry within and outside Europe
should succeed once more in dragging the nations into a war, the result will be, not the Bolshevization of the world and thereby the victory of Jewry, but the annihilation of the Jewish race in Europe.

By the end of 1941 the United States entered the struggle against the Axis powers. The racial-
ideological nature of the assault on Soviet Russia drove Hitler to come up with the 'Final Solution of
the Jewish Question' which had been being thought about since 1939. In 1941 the disaster in Moscow
led Hitler to dismiss his Commander-in-Chief and many other commanders. Hitler now had control over all military operations. On March 19, 1945 Hitler ordered the destruction of the rest of the German industry, communications and transport systems.

On April 29, 1945 Hitler married Eva Braun and he made his final political testament.
The following day Hitler committed suicide by shooting himself in the mouth. His body was carried
into the garden of the Reich Chancellery by aides.
