IDC Survey Reveals Intranets Are Becoming

Backbone of Companies' IT Infrastructures

Intranets are becoming the backbone of companies. They are using it for information sharing, information publishing, email, and documentation management. Because intranets provide instant access to real time, information this provides a competitive advantage.

Some companies are finally catching up with technology. It provides a faster easier way of communication throughout the company. Standards, policies and procedures should also be developed for the user.

All companies whether large or small would benefit from intranets. there is one thing that was not clear in the article; that most company's are relying on internal expertise when designing or implementing an Intranet. By this I hope they are saying that the IS department is developing.

The company that I currently work for is in the process of implementing and training at it five facilities here in Oklahoma. I will be a user of the system and currently do not know what its capabilities will be.
