IDC Study Reveals Companies Are Increasing
Their Use of the Linux Operating Environment
IDC conduct a survey in which usage of Linux operating environment is on the increase. "Linux is emerging as a potential competitor to Windows and Unix for some server applications." Most respondents have no immediate plan to purchase Windows 2000 operating system, waiting 6 to 18 months. Because of the past problems with first-release operating systems from Microsoft.
It goes to show even though Microsoft is the leader in operating systems that companies do not trust their new releases.
I agree with these organizations in waiting to purchase to the new system. Microsoft has not had a very good track record when releasing a new operating system.
Even though Microsoft will continue to release new operating systems due to budget constraints I will not be in any rush to purchase it.
