Compaq To Unveil Its First
Fixed Thin Clients
Compaq will introduce its first thin-client system. It will offer a generic thin-client functionality with the ability to run Windows NT Server terminal Server Edition and Citrix Systems' MetaFrame applications. They already offer a mobile thin client product, the Compaq Aero 8000.
It surprised me when they said the features and functionality of thin-client hardware is not important. They want to offer users one-stop shopping for thin clients, conventional PC desktops, Intel-architecture and Unix users, storage, and servers. I would have to say that features and functionality are what users would be looking at before purchasing.
To me a company should never say that the features and functionality of their product is not important. It would make you wonder about their knowledge of the product.
We talked and read about thin clients in class and discussed about wireless networks.
