As demonstrated by the successful completion of my PhD degree. I am able to relate and communicate to a wide range of people, set and achieve personal objectives, and have a clear vision of what I want to achieve in my work. I am keen to begin my career in your organisation. My communication skills gained from giving presentations at seminars, issuing clear and concise instructions to the suppliers and government bodies, chairing meetings dealing with clients tactfully and diplomatically, as well a s team projects which have developed my negotiation and persuasion skills, strong analytical and diagnostic skills. I have gained a wide range of experience in various fields of design in engineering during the course of my PhD. I have carried out extensive experimental work and theoretical studies on polymeric materials. These materials are generally used as a repair material in the construction industry to resist cavitation and abrasion erosion. The implementation of Health and Safety was of paramount importance to achieve the above objectives, other goals were economical and the use of the latest technology, for producing new advance materials to be used for repair techniques. An important feature of the PhD has been to regularly update the sponsors on progress and to prepare reports for their company to supervise more junior researchers and conduct tutorials with undergraduates, to prepare drawings and technical materials on various occasions for presentations. I have through my research at Newcastle University been in contact with a number of research establishments through out the world. I was awarded funding to present my research at Doncaster at which a delegation from: Kvaener Boving Limited, Formulated resins Limited and First hydro were present. Another presentation was held at Newcastle University in which academic staff and delegations from Vioth Hydro and Formulated Resins were present. I am fully conversed with the British Standard and code of practice relevant to the design of steel and concrete structures, construction design and composite materials. I developed strong computer skills such as Microsoft Office Software such as word, excel, power point, and also wordPerfect, graphical software, Database software. I also have had extensive practice with Auto Cad (V 14). I developed my skills in finite element practice using Pafec and Lusas package for finite element analysis and programming languages such as Fortran, C++ and visual Basic and Unix network. During my PhD I supervised the cluster computing room at Newcastle University, helping students to solve computing problems in a calm and efficient manner. Daily use of the internet has developed my technical background. During the course of my PhD I have managed and organised my own priorities and workload with company objectives and deadlines. |
