Magazine Sales A Success!
Recently our school participated in the QSP magazine sales program. Our goal was to have 270 sales per team, or 3 per person. We achieved and surpassed our total goal and surpassed last years total sales. Out of the $24,000 dollars made, we get to keep $8,000 for field trips. In my opinion this was kind of a scam because we were told that this was a fundraiser. A fundraiser for who? QSP, the big corporation, that's who. For the work that we put in to selling, we got a poorly organized radio party featuring Hot 103 Jamz. Numero uno, we were told that they would be giving out assorted prizes when all they really gave were bumper stickers and a few t-shirts promoting their station. Soon we will be attending a BMX bike stunt show, which was cool last year and is really the only good thing that will come out of this.
Drama Has Started
About two weeks ago, drama started. The play for this year is entitled Clowns. You're probably saying to yourself, "What the heck is clowns?" That's what I said too. It is a musical about a group of clowns who search for the secret of life. I had submitted my resume for student director. Without telling us though, the powers that be decided to split the job up into about five sections. I was named Director of Sound and Lighting. Oh goodie! Needless to say, I got the short end of the straw. You see, I want to be an actor when I grow up, and working the lights won't get me very far. I hope that the play turns out to be okay. By the way, when they announced the directors in the newsletter, they spelled my name incorrectly. It is SHAWN, not SHAUN or SEAN.
