My Thoughts

The Curse of Cursing
Is cursing required to express emotions? No. Does it make a person seem cooler? No. So why do teenagers insist on doing it so often. It makes me uncomfortable in my workplace when I hear one of, what I consider to be, the two worst words. I won't write them, but they start with B and F. Numerous times during the day, I hear students saying these and others to each other, to me, or in the presence of a teacher. The teachers tell us to watch our mouths, but that does not stop them. My theory is that their parents do not pay enough attention to them. They use the language because they weren't taught better and so they can get attention. So don't become one of the bad ones. Keep your mouth clean.

Flufferbuns' Competition
Flufferbuns is a very special cat.

"Her personality shines through every whisker," says owner Patty McCay of Denver, Colorado. Flufferbuns went through with the hard task of preparing for and competing in a cat show.
The first part of the preparation didn't involve Fluff at all, though. Patty had to make the decision as to whether or not Fluff should compete.

"Flufferbuns is one of the friendliest, outgoing cats I know," says Ms. McCay. She decided that the show wouldn"t frighten or upset Flufferbuns - especially since Fluff was used to these kinds of things. She'd just never been in a formal show. Next, Patty had to take Flubs to a breeder to make sure she was good enough to be shown?.
"A true show cat," says breeder Amy Army. With Amy's permission, Flufferbuns and Patty were ready to sign up for the next cat show.
Patty wanted to check out the show before Fluff. She went to see how everything worked and to pick up the Show List and a copy of the rules and regulations for the "Mile High Cat Show." Patty did this about three months before the show because she had some serious reading to do! While Patty read the rules and checked the schedule, she also filled out an entry form for Flufferbuns. Sure, it sounds and looks very simple, but it can be quite tedious. (see rules and regulations for the show) Some of the things Patty was required to put on her entry form were:
Registration number, cat's name, breed number, sex, d.o.b., (etc.).
Also, since Flufferbuns is a pedigree cat, Patty had to find the registration certificate. After a couple of days of going through drawers and cabinets, she found it!
Two weeks later, Patty received a letter from the MH Cat Show. Flufferbuns had been accepted!
Next, it was Flufferbuns' turn to pitch in. She was carefully checked for fleas, ear mites, runny eyes and nose, bare patches of skin, and for all vaccinations. Her claws were trimmed and she got a full bath.
Fluff's basket was all ready for her with a clean, plain white blanket, white water bowl, white food bowl, and white litter tray.
Patty was also equipped with a cloth to wipe out the pen, disinfectant, white tape to put Flufferbuns' tally around her neck, and a few extra white blankets in case of any "litter accidents."
They arrived at the show at about 8:30am. The judging started at 10:00am. So, after Patty got Flufferbuns settled in and put her nicest blanket down, it was 9:45am, and time to go and leave the rest to Flufferbuns. Patty took Fluffs food bowl with her (cats aren't allowed to eat during the judging).
Patty waited impatiently for the results to be posted.
When the results were finally up, Patty looked to see how Flufferbuns did. Flufferbuns had come in first place!!!
After all the excitement, it was time for Patty and Flufferbuns to go home and get some rest! It had been a tough day for both of them!
Excerpt- Kitty Korner Feline Frenzy
Feline Frenzy you?ve got problems? We?ve got answers.

Q: Sometimes I worry that my cat is getting too old. She?s eleven(in human years). How old will she live to be?
A: Cats live, on average, about fifteen years. Your cat has a while to go before you should start to worry. Just make sure you take it easy on your cat in her old age, and give her plenty of exercise.

Q; When my cat is sleeping, he moves his feet, his teeth chatter and his eyelids flutter. What?s happening?
A: Your cat is dreaming. Cats dream to classify or get rid of unnecessary information.

Q: Why does my cat always suddenly run from one room to the next like she?s in a big hurry?
A: Indoor cats are deprived of the chance to chase and kill prey or run away from an unexpected predator. Sometimes these natural instincts catch up with them and the littlest thing will set them off and cause them to make a mad dash around the house.

Q: Why does my cat always knead on me?
A: Kittens knead on their mother?s stomach when they?re being fed. This helps milk flow. A cat them kneads when they?re feeling happy. Don?t try to stop your cat from kneading, though. This would be cruel.

Q: My cat just loves to empty her water bowl all over the kitchen floor, what should I do?
A: You can always buy a rug to put under the bowl. Some stores sell non-tippable pyramid shaped bowls. Another solution would be to put the bowl outside (if you have an outdoor cat).

Q: How can I get my cat to stop playing with the toilet paper?
A: Here are some solutions :
Hang the roll so the paper hangs against the wall, not over the roll.
Balance a cup of water or pennies on the roll.
Close the bathroom door.
