Prayer / Praise Points

Cut out along the dotted lines to carry with you as a summery

Prayer isn't getting our will done in heaven, its getting God's will done here on earth.
Praise:
  • The 'chance' encounters that occur daily with strangers. The privilege of witnessing for Christ.
  • The nearing of my financial goal for support.

Prayer:
  • For the Turkish/Kiwi couple I met in the park. Pray they would be willing to meet again and that God would be working in their hearts.
  • Student Life has now had two forums involving people from other groups. Pray that students from the Socialist group and the Muslim group would return to Student Life.

be salt and light, a conversation on the train, on a bus, all can easily become witnessing opportunities. People can often open up with a stranger they don't expect to meet again and be willing to hear about God's desire to be involved in fixing their broken lives. I've always by habit tried to carry an evangelistic tract on me, but only recently have I been learning to get it out and use it!
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
(Mat 5:14, 16)

A BIG 'THANK YOU'

I want to thank you all for your support during these hard months. My ministry involvement has had to be minimal as I've focused on support raising. With your help, I am finding the last few financial partners I need to enable me to get back on campus. I appreciate your partnership.

My biggest challenge now is to find the last 5 to 10 ministry partners who could help me reach my target. If you know Christians who are keen to see the gospel preached, and you have a hunch they just might be some of the last few partners I'm seeking, then give me a call or an email.

MARIO
I was getting out of my car after returning home after a bible study when I greeted my neighbour Mario from across the road. We hadn't met before and he asked me where I'd just come from. I explained I had been at a bible study. Seeing the sticker of a particular Middle East country on my bible (which will remain unnamed) he immediately asked me if I was a missionary.

"I'm a Christian also, but I've backslidden…. Do you think God will still accept me?" he asked. We proceeded to sit down in his backyard and chat for the next hour although it was already past midnight. It turns out Mario is a Phillipino Christian, having come to faith through some OMF missionaries in 1983. In 1992 he worked for a few months on the OM Doulos ship, later travelling as an evangelists aide through Phillipine villages. Mario knows of more missionary organisations than I've even heard of!
It was quite humbling to see this man who so obviously has a passion for Jesus and had so much experience asking me, his 'missionary brother', for advice. Unfortunately Mario has had three episodes of backsliding, the last leaving his head slightly scrambled

from alcohol abuse. How amazing that even though he has fallen into sin several times after converting, each time he is able to overcome through the help of God and Christians.

I will be trying to plug him into a church where he can receive the support and encouragement he needs. Probably my role in Mario's life will be minor, but significant all the same as part of the chain of events God uses to bring each one of us closer to him.
Who knows what part we play in so many people's lives? I have heard countless tales of people who thought nothing of chance encounters that lead to witnessing opportunities with strangers. The step of faith we take can prove to be a dramatic turning point in that person's life.

Let us make the most of every opportunity to
