Treehouse
Pictures:
In the summer of 1999, Dad and I decided to build a treehouse. We didn't want to mess up a perfectly good oak tree by nailing into it, so we decided to surround the tree with a deck and build the house on a portion of that...

2. Assembling the Deck
We laid the deck out on the patio and assembled the eight sections there.

4. Setting the Posts
Next came the posts. Eight 6" x 6" posts on the outside and eight 4" x 4" posts on the inside. My dad's best friend Mike joined in the "fun" at this point. We aren't sure why, Dad said something about Mike having "masochistic tendencies," whatever that means. Anyway, the posts are buried in cement-filled holes about 24" deep.

6. Pre-deck Assembly (II)
After the digging and setting, we laid out the "pre-deck." The deck pieces were placed and bolted together. So far, so good.

8. Placing Wall Frames
The five wall frames were assembled on the ground and lifted into place. Sheets of plywood were put on as walls and then put on as the roof as well.

10. Putting in the Lattice
Last, the rail. It was mounted then we put garden lattice in to keep me and my friends from falling off. Not bad, huh!!!
