Some information about my family name:
The Clan Fleming.
Name in Gaelic, Pleamonn or Pleimeann [Irish spelling denoting a
person from Flanders]
Family motto from olden times. Let The Deid Schaw
The Flemings, one of the leading Anglo-Norman
families of Ireland came to the country in the year 1173. Originally
from Flanders, near the close of the 11th century, severe flooding in their
homeland forced them to seek shelter in England. At first they settled
in the north in the Scottish borderlands, but shortly after their arrival
they were forced by Henry 1 to relocate to the south coast of Wales.
From there they sailed to Ireland at the time of the Anglo-Norman invasion,
when Richard le Fleming obtained from the Hugh de Lacey the barony of Slane
in the northeast County Meath as well as other sizeable estates in neighboring
Louth. For more than five hundred years, they maintained considerable
influence in this region. Down to the late 17th century Christopher
Fleming still held the Castle and title, Lord of Slane. However,
the Flemings support of James the Second in the Jacobite wars resulted
in the loss of their lands valued at over L25,000 annually. Flemings
are now scattered throughout the four provinces. Some in the northeast
of Ulster, particularly Counties Antrim and Derry, are of Scottish ancestry,
their forbears settling in the province at the time of the 17th century
Plantation.
From the 12th century onward, Flemings have been
prominent in all phases of Irish life. Among the many of note were:
Nicholas Fleming, Archbishop of Armagh from 1404 to 1416, and compiler
of the "Fleming Register.", Meath born Rev.Richard Fleming,S.J. [1542-1590],
professor of philosophy in Paris, described as the preeminent Irish theologian
of his time; the Most Rev.Thomas Fleming [1593-1666], Archbishop
of Dublin, who excommunicated Ormond; Christopher Fleming [1800-1880],
a distinguished surgeon; and John Fleming [1815-1895], a celebrated
Celtic scholar.

Things my friends accuse me of saying A LOT!
1. Huh?
2. Hail to the King, baby!
3. Ahhhh-yeah, baby!
4. Never underestimate the power of stuipid people in
large groups.
5. Nice guys just can't win. Then again there
are no truly "nice" guys...even though I'm one.
6. A loving relationship must be built on a foundation
of trust and honesty. If that doesn't work
tell her that you have a tumor.
Either way, the keyword is "growth".
7. My life has never been "normal". I think that
is because my underwear is too tight.
8. A teacher once said to me that the reason my life
is soo crappy is that God really does hate me.
9. Just know that when I take off my shirt a mild feeling
of nausea is normal.
10. All hail to the Gods of Caffinee, baby!
11. I'm not weird, I am a freak...there is a difference.
12. Gee, my pecs look especially studly today!
13. Don't hate me because I am beautiful, baby!
14. Next time we go out, do you think that you can withstand
the full force of my machismo, baby?
15. Sorry, I wasn't paying attention. I'm in my own
little world full of chocolatey goodness.
16. I am not "just" a geek. I am the King of Geeks,
baby!
17. Do I really say "baby" a lot?
Now, in concession to a particular friend of mine who shall remain unnamed (though if you write to me I will tell you who) the topic I talk about the most!!
Well, first of all I got a haircut! This is the first time I have had short hair since I was a teenager! Yeah, I know...I no longer have any resemblance to that leather jacket wearing, motorcycle riding, caffine drinking, butt kicking person I once was. But c'mon people, it is about time I begin to be normal aye? Okay, maybe normal by apperance but never normal mentally.... Heh-heh! ...and yes I also still have a car. I mean, after riding year round on a motorcycle for as many years as I did, well, it gets really cold! I think I will stick with an automobile for a long while yet! Yes, I still do smoke but I am slowly cutting down now from three packs a day to under a pack a day. I also havn't had a drink for two years now. Wow, how much can I change aye? Anyway, I am finally back at school full time now (as opposed to working full time) and taking as many classes as possible. I will be out soon, I am a junior after all. I have decided that once I graduate I will join the Big Brothers and Sisters Organization. I think it will be cool to have a little guy to hang around with...I mean, after all, none of my adult friends will talk about cartoons with me! Heh-heh! :c) Since I am taking a lot of classes I have had to cut down work considerably. So, basically I have most weekends off. Which is cool with me because it gives me time to hang with my dog, Human. The only down side to this is that she seems to have a constant case of gas. I swear, if I could harnass that I could power the city of Atlanta with those noxious canine fumes! Oh and as to my constantly changing musical tastes, here is the run down of my current favorite bands, some are still from my old list but some are new...
My favorite bands...
GWAR (yes, still after ALL these years!)
Enya
Rob Zombie
White Zombie
17 Years (local Atlanta band)
The Pogues
Kelly Hogan (local Atlanta singer)
Tori Amos
Sarah McLachlan
Atari Teenage Riot
The Donnas
The Trashwomen
Cannibal Corpse
The Prodigy
The Chieftains
Enigma
Fear
Lords Of Acid
That about sums up my current list. I know some of you might
still think I am missing some, but please... I mean, I don't know
the name of the groups who play medieval chamber music!!! Yeah, I
still like that kind of music and I am still looking for a CD that has
Greensleeves on it...I kind of lost the tape version I had of it.
:c( I don't know, I really love the medieval ages. The
ideals that they had back then are sorely needed in this day and age.
I mean, look at the way the world is...how violent and self centered it
is. I think a bit of chivalry could change the world.
As to the recent ice storm we had in Georgia
in the latter days of Jan, 2000... Well, we lost power for three
to four days...forgot the exact amout of time. But none the less,
it was COLD! I stayed at my house the entire time, I couldn't abandon
Human now could I? My yard was a wreck though! It is basically
cleaned up now, just need to wait until the garbage-men tote that stuff
away! Oh yeah, as to my annual surfing trip to Florida in the summertime.
Well, I am cancelling it this year in lieu of a better idea. I am
going to go the the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. Yeah,
I am still a nerd at heart. I love to watch The Learning Channel,
The Discovery Channel and the Public Broadcasting Stations here in Georgia.
I am also now a confirmed addict of the crossword puzzles in the Atlanta
Journal and Constitution. Hey, I have finished a bunch of them!
Cool aye?
