Stonehenge
Merlin, who began life in the days of King Arthur, is said to be the son of a Cornish princess. His father was believed to be an angel who had fallen into disfavor of God. Raised by the Druids he learned the art of Astrology, Spell Making and how to Change Shape. It is also said he inherited Second Sight from his unknown father.
Aurelius, one of King Constantine's sons who had recently returned from exile, sought out Merlin, asking his help in building a Monument to the brave men who had died in the defense of their country. A monument that would last forever.
Merlin, upon hearing of Aurelius and his quest, was only too willing to help. "There are some stones in Ireland which would be perfect for the job", he told Aurelius. "These stones," he told Aurelius, "were brought from Africa by a Giant who wanted to build a Magic circle of stones, but they are far too heavy for an ordinary man to lift," he warned.
"But, he said they were Magic stones and anyone who bathes in water that the stones have been washed in would be healed. These stones," Merlin said, "are the only ones that would make a fitting monument to the brave men who had died fighting for their country."
Aurelius was at a loss how to move the stones from Ireland to England, but he dispatched his most trusted Knights and ships to collect them. When the Knights arrived at the top of Mt Kildare, Merlin cast a spell so the stones were as light as pebbles, thus the Knights were easily able to carry them to the ships.
These stones were said to have been placed on the Salisbury plain in the south of England, a dedication that would last to the end of the world.
Today, on that plain, can be found such a circle of stones. That circle of stones is called Stonehenge!
