Important Notice to All Confreres
Greetings
and Peace! As of yesterday, at least three provincials have informed the
Association of Major Religious Superiors in the Philippines about their
unpleasant experience this past week of having received telephone calls from a
female introducing herself as a member of “group
in the mountains” and forcibly asking congregations to give them food
provisions and cash, to be delivered at a certain time and place and to the
person designated by the group. These congregations have also been threatened
that something bad would happen to them if they will not comply.
Please take the necessary precautions because you may encounter this
problem. Please be keen on this, keep calm and do not panic of this should
happen to you. Also, please be discreet in providing information about
confreres, especially those holding positions of authority. Please report these
to the local police and to my office if this should occur. Hopefully, this will
not occur at all. All local superiors please inform your community members at
the earliest convenience.
