HS Admissions Procedure and Policy for 2000
Modified 20 February 1999

PHS Admissions Procedure for 2000
 | All Application Forms must be accompanied by:
 | the most recent end-of-year report
 | a certified copy of the applicant's Birth Certificate
 | any other relevant supporting documents
| | |
 | Learners at Pinelands primary schools must submit their applications to their relevant primary schools by Friday 16 April.
 | All other learners must submit their applications directly to Pinelands High School by Friday 30 April.
 | If PHS is not the closest high school to the applicant's residential address, the applicant is strongly advised to apply to other schools in addition to PHS.
 | All applicants who meet the above deadline will be contacted by PHS before the end of May, either telephonically to set up an interview or in writing if the chances of admission are either slim or non-existent.
 | Interviews will commence in May. Subsequent confirmation of acceptance will be made before the end of the second term.
 | Acceptances are finalised only after the Admission Fee of R125 has been paid. (Applicants are given due notice of the deadline for the payment of this fee.)
| | | | | | |
PHS Admissions Policy for 2000
 | PHS has six Grade 8 classes with a maximum of 39 learners per class.
 | Classes in senior grades are generally limited to 39 learners but may, especially in the case of certain practical subjects, need to be smaller.
 | No learners will be admitted to PHS without a prior interview.
 | Proximity to PHS and compliance with our Admissions Procedure are our most important criteria for successful admission to our school.
 | When considering applications from learners for whom PHS is not the nearest high school, the following are a few important criteria that are considered by the school:
 | the total number of applications
 | specialised skills, talents or needs of the applicant which PHS has the potential to develop or address
 | whether or not the applicant has siblings at PHS
 | whether or not the applicant attended one of the Pinelands primary schools.
| | | | (Please note that the last three criteria do not guarantee admission to PHS.)
| | | | |
It is our intention to admit learners to PHS in a fair and just manner. Queries about non-acceptance must be directed to the Principal
in writing. The Principal and his staff will not be available for telephonic debates or for personal appointments in connection with unsuccessful applications, except in cases where the written query brings to light an irregularity or an oversight on the part of the school.

We strive to be a world-class school, rooted in Africa, that facilitates a quality, all-round education in a caring and disciplined environment.
