The Mindstorm Competition -

On Jan 9th, we held our own mini-competition which prepared and taught us how to work together. It also gave us a little experience in working with robots.
LEGO generously donated five Mindstorm kits to our schools. We were split up into five different teams and each team was asigned a supervisor. Afterward, we had three weeks to get our robots programed and ready to run the already planned out course. Each team was responsible for arranging their own meeting times and places.
The course was a 56 x 56" flat, wooden board. It consisted of a ramp and five vertical poles. The goal of the teams was to get their robot to score as many points as possible on the course. Points were obtained several different ways: from the robot turning each corner, managing get up and down from the ramp, completing the course, the amount of time it took to complete the course, design of the robot, and any other interesting/original things that may have happened.
When the competition date arrived, we were all excited. Parents and friends attented. A news camera crew was even there to document the event.
