Site Feedback

I've been getting so many great, interesting fascinating emails from people, I've decided I'm going to start putting up some of them (along with my answers) on this page! spiff, or what?

Disclaimer: If you do not want your email up here, please either mention it in your original email or email me after it is up and I will remove it. Feel free to email also if you do not want your email address up and tell em a name or nick to put instead. I don't want to have any "anonymous" emails. I reserve the right to put emails I receive on this page.

I've enjoyed perusing your site and appreciate your presentation on the epic tale of Arthur!! I've always thought a movie or mini series would be wonderful --- no, only a miniseries could tell the tale ---- please let me know if you hear of any progress in this direction. Is there anyone we can court on it?
Jane

Dear Jane,
thanks so much for your compliments! it's such an encouragement since I've kind of been neglecting the site recently... anyway, I totally agree with you about the minseries idea, not only do you need the longer time frame, but it is lower budget (I'm assuming) and might be easier to accomplish... I have no idea how to get in touch with James Coburn (who apparently bought the movie rights..) Tell me if you find anything out!!

Dear Katie,
At the risk of sounding a bit ungracious I am afraid that I must inform you that the religion that Miss Bradley said she made up is real. It was with great interest that I read your disclaimer on the religion of Morgain. Miss Bradley surely did more research than she admitted to.
The modern form of the religion is called Wicca, and it was certified as a bonafide religion by the US Supreme Court in 1985. I do not say this to disparage either yours or the late Miss Bradley's beliefs or the beliefs of anyone, however I am a practitioner of this religion and a High Priestess of the same. Miss Bradley had too much of our practices and way of life incorporated into her book for me to believe that her resources were purely from the writings of the early Christians.
Thank you,
Nimue, High Priestess, MoonSong Coven

Dear Nimue,
Thanks so much for your lovely email! What I was trying to say on the religion page was not that MZB had just completely invented the religion in the book, but that she had partially invented it- by researching various Wiccan/ Druidic religions and mixing them up to best suit the needs of the story.
Actually, at the time I was making the page, I was going through some doubt about whether a Christian like me should be doing a website about a pagan oriented book and spending that much time pondering things that were so opposed to my beliefs... going through a little spiritual crisis, I guess. I think I was probably trying to assure myself that the site wasn't a sinful/bad thing to be involved in by noting on the page that the authoress was a Christian and that the book wasn't causing me to change MY religion. While I of course respect your beliefs, I also didn't want people to take the religion directly from the book in an effort to "be like Morgaine" or something like that. Also, I did receive a rather testy letter from an MZB staffer telling me MZB was a Christian (and giving me that exact quote), which I put up on the page...
To provide a more balanced view on the page, would you be interested in writing an essay on the religion in the book and how it relates to Wicca? Again, thanks so much for your gracious remarks and comments.

All in all, a lovely site. However, I did find it a bit distressing that you somewhat dismissed the worship of the Goddess and felt it necessary to not only loudly proclaim yourself a Christian, but MZB one as well. At any rate, I particularly enjoyed the poetry link, and thank you for providing it.

I truly wasn't trying to dismiss the beliefs of anyone, I was just trying to point out that MZB did partially invent and mix up different pagan religions to come up with one that would fit best with the story line, though a very strong resemblance to Wicca is certainly there. I don't feel it entirely out of order to mention my religious beliefs on my own site on a page about religion and the section about MZB's beliefs was put in response to a rather testy letter I got from one of MZB's assistants saying that MZB was also a Christian... Anyway, thank you for the feedback, I am starting to make changes to the site in many different areas, including the religion page. And thanks for the compliments too!
