A Golden Lie

a golden lie so perfect
that it cannot be true
brass will tarnish
corrosion's overdue.

I wrote this in the middle of ninth grade. At first I had thought all my new friends were sooo perfect- pretty and smart and oh-so-cool. I felt inferior to them and like I didn't fit in with them. Then, later I learned they weren't perfect. One girl's dad had had an affair, etc. They were all totally normal people who had problems and stuff. This made my life a LOT easier!!
